Spring Hill to Tysons 230 kV Underground Transmission Line Project

At Dominion Energy, we are committed to continually reviewing and maintaining our energy infrastructure to provide safe and reliable electric service. We believe solutions should always account for future energy needs while continuing to balance cost and impacts.

Project Overview

This project will replace a portion of an existing 230-kilovolt (kV) above-ground line in Tysons with a new 230kV underground line running from the existing Tysons substation on Tyco Road and terminating at a structure near the Future Spring Hill Substation southwest of Leesburg Pike and Spring Hill Road.

However, work may occur in multiple phases at once and may not necessarily work in chronological order. For example, work may begin in Phase C before Phase A, and could occur simultaneously. Construction may start at any location in the phases, not necessarily at the start point. Start dates and locations are determined by the construction team to complete the project safely and efficiently with the least amount of disruption to the community.
