As part of our commitment to ensure a secure energy grid for Florida, we have determined a need to construct a new substation and two new 230-kilovolt (kV) transmission lines in Polk County, Fla. This project will directly connect Duke Energy’s Osprey
Energy Center, in the city of Auburndale, to the company’s high-voltage electric transmission system supporting the current and future energy needs of Duke Energy customers and the region.
Public participation is a vital part of Duke’s process for selecting routes for new transmission lines. The energy challenges we
face – and the solutions developed to meet those challenges – affect all of us.
The public comment period for the selection of the preferred routes began May 8, 2018 and ended on June 15, 2018.
